Random Treasure Tables*

*for use with Unnecessarily Weird Dice

Every so often you get the urge to make a big ol' table. Even if you don't have a specific use case for it right this very moment. Even if a comparable thing already exists somewhere, in fact. At least I do, anyway. Sometimes I just want to make something silly to roll my big dumb dice on. And so here we are: a set of treasure tables to stock different places, all built around using those big stupid dice we don't get to use often enough. In this case, I thought it'd be cool to use a d24, a d30, and a d60 (and some other, common dice, too).

If you don't have those big, beautiful, ridiculous dice, I'm not sure what you've been doing with your life. How did you use your Armory d30 tables back in the day?! However, all is not lost. If you're playing dice catch up, you could head to your FLGS and solve this problem in a jiffy - or, barring that, get yourself over to Amazon and put that Prime account you pay for to good use by grabbing a d24 and d30 and/or a d60 (though I'm sure you could find these elsewhere online, too). Everyone should have some gigantic too-many-sided dice. Somebody start working on a good d60 system and I'm there.

Anyway, I wanted some treasures without the coins and without the magic. Can never have too many treasure roll tables. My plan is to roll on these and sub the results in for equivalent cash in common loot scenarios, especially at low levels. The slovenly bandits have 21gp, 1sp, 6cp is less cool than the slovenly bandits having two purloined bricks of incense, a pouch of salt, a half-finished scrimshaw of a fox, 1gp, and 1sp. Larger treasure scenarios - like the bandit hideout, the missing caravan, or the storage vault of the kleptomaniac kobold cultists - will get to roll on progressively more valuable tables and have a better percentage of hard currency and gems.

Hopefully you find some use for these tables too!

*** Update 20 December 2018 - Due to requests, I've made a simple printable PDF of these tables so you can print one table or any combination of the tables with no muss or fuss. Click here to go to the document, or use the navigation bar on the side under Downloads > DM Aids + Misc ***

The next time your party comes across a treasure pile, rifles some pockets, stumbles upon a ruined caravan, or ends up picking between the teeth of a leviathan whale like in Pinocchio or the Mariner's Revenge Song, roll on the appropriate table instead of giving them a couple of boring pouches of boring coins - give them some boring items too.

Hopefully you get some use from these tables and find some time over the holidays to sneak them into a game. If you end up rolling any of these in a game, let me know here or on Twitter @dungeonspossums; I'm always excited when someone tells me some dumb thing I've made ended up at their game!
